Aurora Business Brokers Firm can introduce you to a valuation partner. Plan the final reporting and account closure after the sale without confusing a tax account closure with the end of the legal entity.

Choose the account or location that actually closes

Colorado’s Department of Revenue allows sales tax account closure through Revenue Online or DR 1108. Closing one location is a different task from closing the entire account.

Identify every account and site involved before submitting a closure. A sale does not mean every tax registration held by the seller should be closed.

Make the final reporting file complete

Collect the transaction date, final operating records and the information your CPA needs for the remaining returns. Keep evidence of filings and payments with the sale records.

Ask your advisors to separate final operating taxes, taxes arising from transferred assets and obligations that continue after the business stops trading.

Do not dissolve the seller by accident

A Department of Revenue account closure is separate from a Secretary of State entity filing. Your attorney should decide when winding up or dissolution is appropriate.

Confirm the closure scope with the Colorado Department of Revenue and any remaining city accounts with Aurora Tax and Licensing. This is not tax or legal advice; consult your CPA or attorney.
